THE KAPANUI BURNED AT WARKWORTH. /_

£Pcu Press Association AUCKLAND. August 12. The Northern S.S. Company’s steamer Kapanui was almost destroyed by fire at Warkworth this morning. When the outbreak was discovered at 4.JU a.m.j the fire had such a strong hold in the engine-room that the officers had to beat a hasty retreat, and lost all their personal property. The alter part of the steamer was burned out. It was low water at the time, and the vessel was burned to the water’s edge.
