Mr Swinbourne, a member of the Assembly, has commenced an action against the “Age” newspaper, claiming £SOOO damages for alleged libel contained in a criticism of his administration when Minister for Water Supply. FLOODS IN VICTORIA. As a result of the river overflowing 10,000 acres of land, including a large area in crop, was inundated at Kotupna. Damage to the extent of several thousand pounds was done. Numbers of residents are isolated, the only means of communication being by boats.
THE ORLEANS BOAT—WRECKAGE FOUND. HOBART, August 17. Pieces of planking found on the West Coast have been identified as belonging to the boat containing the missing members of the Orleans crew.
