The map was received. Mr Toneycliffe raised, the question of the Chamber ta'king steps to induce the Harbor Board to forward the outer harbor movement, and said he felt that the public only required educating to the advantages of an outer harbor for it- to be carried. The popularity of the Alain Trunk railway had almost isolated Gisborne, and unless an outer harbor was built Gisborne would become further isolated as the-,inland towns were connected by railway. The Chairman suggested that Mr Toneycliffe should bring the question forward at a general meeting of the Chamber, and Air Toneycliffe agreed to do so.
