FIRE BRIGADE v. CITY BAND. The annual match between the above teams will take place at the Domain next Thursday. In the evening, after —the game, members of both bodies will meet in the bandroom, when a “musical social” will be held. THE* ASSOCIATION GAME. The British Association football matches to be played to-day are: Y.M.C.A. r. Athletics, at Carnarvon Street; Taruheru v. Rangers, at Taruheru. The kick-off is to be at 2.30 p.m. The team to represent Y.M.C.A. in the match against Athletics will be picked from the following: Douglas, Rennie, Sutherland, Bain, Ansell, Griffin, Brownlee, Grenfell, Clarkson, Bangi, Patihana, Pewhairangi, Miller, Ellison, Kaipara. A REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. A New Zealand Association Football Referees’ Association was formed in Wellington to-night. The principal objects are to secure uniformity m interpretations and rulings respecting the laws of the game; to provide referees for all matches when requested to do so by the New 'Zealand Association; and to secure the punishment of persons insulting referees. Wellington was 7 fixed as the headquarters. The following executive officers were appointed: President, Mr. W. Monckton (Taranaki); secretary and treasurm, Mr. W. Wood (Wellington). Each affiliated Association will be asked to elect a member of the Management Committee.

The Welsh Rugby Union has decided that it cannot now accept an invitation to send a team to New South Wales.
