ROWING.

GISBORNE CLUB. The weekly meeting of tho Committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held at the Gisborne Club last evening. Mn C. J. Hamilton (captain) presided. The following new members were elected: Messrs P. McConville, A. L. Winter, and J. Gallop. It was resolved that the shed he opened for rowing after Saturday next, September 18th. The following members were appointed’ as strokes to take out crews after that date: P. C. Bayly, G. Butler, G. Buscke, H. Bennett,* A. Coleman, F. Curoming, D. Cowan. J. M. Curtis, It. Dobson, M. Doyle, O. Hansen, 'lP. Hamilton, C. J. Hamilton. I. Grihlinton, W. Johnston, J. Knowles, H. Puflett, G. Puflett, G. Rowe, C. Rogers, H. I). Robinson, A. Stephenson. E. Swinnerton. A. N. Smith, L. F. Williams, R. V. Gully. R. Warren, F. H. W. Traill, and A. G. Williams. . 5,:, ; , .

It was decided that the members be divided into A and B grades, a list of each -fco he posted in the shed. B grade members are to use only fixed-seated fours and fixed-seated double sculls. Each crew in either grade must be accompanied iby an appointed'stroke. The following were appointed as a Selection Committee to pick all representative crews: Messrs G. J. Hamilton. W. Johnston, and L. F. Williams, with power to add to their number. POVERTY BAY CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club was held last night in the Cosmopolitan Club. A letter was read from Messrs J. Edwards and Son, of Melbourne, supplying terms for the supply of four new boats, but after discussion it was decided that the expense would be too great for the club to undertake, and it was resolved that Mr. Norton, of Wellington, be asked to submit quotations for two new • double-sculling boats. The secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Rowing Association wrote regarding registration of colors, and. it was decided that the club’s colors be registered as follows: Blue and white cap and flag, white jersey with chocolate band under right and over left shoulder. A number of' accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting concluded.
