[Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. Now regulations are issued in regard to the annual leave of civil servants, and the allowances to be made to them while travelling on the business of their departments. Ail officer who has served for fifteen years may get three weeks’ leave of absence in a year; if he has served less tlfan this period he may be allowed a fortnight’s leave a year. Officials whose salaries do not exceed £4OO per annum are to be granted 10s per day travelling allowance • those whoso salaries do not exceed £6OO 12s 6d, and those whose salaries ,-exeeed this amount 15s. The allowaneo while at sea. will he 5s for the first, day. each subsequent day being paid for at the rate of 2s 6d. These allowances will only be paid while the officers are absent from headquarters at night. Each officer will be obliged to state the reason of his absence.

DECREASE OF HOLIDAYS AND TRAVELLING ALLOWANCES.

CHRISTCHURCH. Sept. 27. There is reported to be some indignation expressed among officers of the Post and Telegraph Department here consequent upon a ukase that has gone forth that, after the end of the present month, annual leave and amount of travelling allowances are to he decreased. Officers who have been under lo years in the service will receive a fortnight’s leavo instead of three weeks’ leave, and those who have been over 15 years in the service will have to content themselves with three weeks’ instead of n month. The allowance whilst travelling in respect to officers receiving £4OO per annum is fixed at 10s per day, and in respect to those receiving salaries over £4OO and up to £6OO the allowance is 12s 6d per day.
