Mr. Alfred Vowles, of Gisborne, has recently returned from a visit to Auckland. where lie attended the Warden’s Court in order to obtain protection over a mining area that is interesting a Sydney syndicate. The appellant- has been referred bv the Warden to the Minister of Mines. * Mr. Vowles states that there are many inquiries from Australian capitalists for New' Zealand mining propositions, but that the Dominion’s labor conditions are prejudicial to business.
