At the Alagistrate’s Court Hiram Ashcroft, a foundry employee, and Arthur Hanlen, a telegraphic Depatch Clerk, both young men, were charged with the forgery of a telegram. Tiny pleaded not guilty. The evidence went to show that, by means of a bogus telegram, Edward Limbrick. cycle agent, doing betting business, was led to pay sums of £22 10s and £5 to Ashcroft cn the result of horse races, improper use being made of official paper and date stamp. One of the two cases was heard to-day and both the accused were committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
