ENTERTAINMENTS
PATHE PICTURES. There was again a good attendance in His Majesty’s Theatre last night on the occasion of the second performance of the present programme of the Pathe Pictures. The films entitled "Mater Sports in France,’’ “In the days of Oliver Cromwell,” and “A Matinee Idol” were the ones evidently most approved by the audience, but all the others were well received. In order to prepare for an installation of electrical power at His Majesty’s Theatre the management will not exhibit their pictures to-night. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Cooper’s Pictures will be'shown at the Theatre and on Saturday the Pathe Company will resume operations with an entirely new programme. COOPER’S PICTURES AND ENTERTAINERS. At His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night Madame Viola Tempest, the well-known cantratrice, will make her first appearance before a Gisborne audience, in conjunction with Cooper’s Pictures and Entertainers. She is reported to be the possessor of a voice of great range, richness, and purity. The company’s efforts have been mostacceptable wherever they have appeared. The pictures, the subjects of which will be varied enough to suit all, will include a series illustrative of the famous drama “England’s Peril.” The plant to be- used in connection with the exhibition is a modern one, capable of producing the best results. Moderate prices will be charged, so that none need deny themselves the pleasure of witnessing the entertainment. The season is limited to three nights—Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
