POVERTY BAY CLUB
. The weeklv meeting of the _ committee of the Poverty Bay Rowing Chib was held in the Cosmopolitan Club last evening. The secretary acknowledged donations of £1 Is each from Messrs AV. Pettie and- L. B. Slierrifr.
The following vice-,presidents were elected : Messrs G. Smith, G., Williams, and B. Muir.
* The Building 'Committee reported that the new club-liouse was now nearing completion. ; _ . Members wishing to compete in the first trial fours are requested to put their names on the list at the shed before Saturday next. ... , GISBORNE CLUB. A meeting of the-committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held evening, Mr. C. J. Hamilton, captain, presiding. There was a full attendance of members. The secretary was instructed to go into the question of installing gas in the_Club’s shed, and report to the next meeting. The following new' B grade crew was approved: A. M. Coleman, J. Dalgety, A. Simson, and P. McConville. _ An inquiry was held into a charge of breaking the rules by taking out a boat for a longer time than allowed, and it was resolved that in future defaulters in this respect should be severely dealt with.
T-he secretary reported that the four old boats of the Club had been given to tlie boys of the Gisborne High School, who intend to have them put in order and to use them, for practice. • Messrs E. Swinnerton and C. Sargisson were appointed the Visiting Committee- for the week. A room for the nse of the committee is being built at the Club’s shed, and is expected to be ready in about a fortnight’s time.
