WHAT THE HARLOW SAW. United "Press Association-H- Copyright. , A SYDNEY; Oct. 29. A letter from an Australian resident at Manila states that when the steamer Harlow arrived Captain ■ Bruce reported with reference to the supposed Waratah. He called the chief engineer’s attention to the vessel, and they came to the. conclusion that the steamer was afire, and was returning to Durban for:assistance. While watching the boat a huge flash occurred, throwing flames 300 lect into the air. A few seconds later a much larger explosion occurred, and when it cleared all the lights of the steamer had disa-p----'peared. As -there were hush fites along the coast, the chief officer was of the opinion that the flames .were from these fires, but they could not understand the disappearance of the steamer lights. She had not signalled for help before the- explosion. From the terrific nature of the explosion, they were of the opinion that all aboard must have been killed instantly. FURTHER UNSUCCESSFUL ..
