lIM.S. CHALLENGER SENT IN SEARCH.
TPer Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. H.M.S. Challenger has been ordered by the Admiralty to search in the vicinity of Kermadec Islands for survivors or wreckage of the ship Clan MePiiorson, Reft Newcastle with coal on Juno 24 for Valparaiso, and has not been heard of since. She is now 129 days out, whereas 31 days would be an average passage. It is thought she may be drifting at sea m a dismasted condition. .The Challenger sailed to-night, direct for the Kcrinadecs, and will keep : in touch with. H.M.S. Prometheus by wireless, subsequently returning to Auckland.
