DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS.
fPuit Press Association.'! WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. The Minister of Marine told a depij tation from the Acclimatisation Conference to-day that he had no intention of sending a man 'Home every year to bring out ova. It was better and cheaper to send a man every two years and let him bring a good supply back.. He did not think there was any necessity for importing quinnat salmon ova, as; the Department was now- stripping its own fish. The matter of the further working of the Portobello hatchery was under consideration of the Government. . The Minister of Internal Affairs, replying to the same deputation, said that the question of removing the protection from stoats and weasels would receive early attention. It w r as the intention of the Government to permit the importation of, little German grey owls, as requested. The use of machine guns was not sport, but to prohibit them would require legislation. He was not in favor, of. making the 1910 season an, open , , one. License fees for shooting deer were very erratic, some associations charging £l a and others as much as £5. He hoped this matter would' be t considered at the next year s conference. "He would approach the Stock Office -with the view of allowing stock inspectors to act as rangers in remote districts. \
