The steamer Star of Scotland’s voyage from London was marked by a sensational incident. On October 27, in a heavy gale, on a dark night, in latitude 48.42 south and longitude 77.59 east, the steamer missed by ia few feet a large derelict, which loomed up so suddenly that she had no time to alter her course, lit was apparently, a partially submerged sailing ship, 70ft of the hull from the bow- were visible. A mast was standing, with broken -gear hanging overboard.
