After midnight on Friday, Mr. Russell moved to strike out the proviso m clause 62 that no new institutions costing over £lO9 be established without previous notice to the Minister. The amendment was lost. On the suggestion of Sir W. J. Steward, the amount in the clause was altered from £IOO to £250. ■ Mr. xVllen moved to amend clause 64 in the direction of substituting a Board for the Inspector-General as the authority whose duty it is to decide what provision is necessary for persons suffering from infectious disease. The amendment was rejected At 12.50 the Minister reported progress. and the House rose.
