AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The final game in the third amateur billiard championship of Gisborne was played -last might. .in the... Y.ic.toria Sal-, oon, in the presence of an interested attendance' of spectators. The contestants were E. Austen and Te Kani Tere, and the result was in favor of the latter by 19 points.' Neither player was in his best form, and no large breaks .were made. Te Kani Pere led at one stage by 124 to 60, but Austen caught and passed him, but both players were level again at 277. Te Kani Pere then forged ahead, and won by the margin already stated. The cup will be handed to the winner this evening, and the' other trophies, including a handsome gold medal manufactured by Mr. R. T. Seymour, :U will also be presented. The ceremony takes places in the Victoria saloon at 7.30 p.m., and all the competitors are requested to be present.
