GISBORNE CLUB

The semi-finals in the A grade Schumacher fours took place last evening, when Somervell, Wheeler, Donald, and L. Bright beat- Bayly, Tocher, McLernon, and Quigley, by about a length. The winning crew had half-a-length advantage’ at the wharf, and kept this lead till near the bridge, where they quickened and increased the lead to a length. The other race was between Hansen. Richards, McConville, and Jeffreys arid F. Traill, Stevenson, Dods, and Bennett, and resulted in ?/ w.in for Hansen by-nearly two lengths, the winner never being troubled. The final in the B grade trial fours was also rowed between Payne, Clarkson. Reddell, and Murray and Rutherford, Pollock, Gallop, and Wyllie. At

the bridge Payne had a lead of a length and a-half, and after a hard race succeeded in winning by a little over a length. The entries for the Muir Cup, to have closed last evening, have been held open till this evening, and the crews will be picked tins or to-morrow evening.
