RIFLE SHOOTING.

THE COLEMAN SHIELD. (Pica Piiess Association. f NAPIER, Jan. 26. The annual contest for the Coleman Shield took place at the Bay Hill rifle range, near Hastings, to-day, in fine weather. The conditions were twelve men teams, seven shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards. The Ranfurly Rifles and the Napier Guards tied'for first place, with the record score ot 1055 points each. The Napier Rifles came third with 1045. The Hastings Rifles made 101 S, and. the Hawke’s Bay Mounted Rifles 995. The . champion belt, for which the twelve highest scorers shot oil', ten shots at 700 yards, was won by Bugler Hay (Napier Guards) with 148 points.
