STRONG FLOW FROM NO. 2 BORE.
\ Pick Piiebs .* - »'•* NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 28. There is considerable suppressed- excitement locally at the tu n events have taken at No. 2 bore, a new gas and oil run "was struck n Thursday afternoon at a depth of au ut 2610 feet during boring operation Since then to 6 o’clock to-night, the well has been literally belching oil and salt water for 35 minutes at a time, with about 45 minutes intermission between each flow. These periods are ben.g maintained with clockwork regularity for the 24 hours. From 6 o’clock on Thursday till 6 to-day there was produced by admeasurement 60 barrels of pure oil, totalling 2520 gallons, in addition to some thousands of gallons of salt water. At the time of wiring there are no signs of diminution of activity. There has been a temporary cessation -of pumping operations at No. 3 bore, but oil has lieen flowing freely of its mvn volition. No. 1 bore is being cleaned out preparatory to experiments to overcome the difficulties w'hich led to its closing down, after a somewhat- sensational activity, about four years ago. At no time in the history of the_ local boring has the present flow of No. 2 bore been, approached, showing the soundness of the new policy of deeper boring.
