In beautiful weather, and with the green in capital order, there are few more enjoyable places whereon to spend an afternoon than a bowling green. That, at all events, was the opinion of a- large number of the- members of the Gisborne Bowling Club, for the muster at tlieir green yesterday was an unusually good one. R. 0. S'keet 21 beat AV. Ratcliffe 19. —On the 6tli head Ratcliffe had the small lead of two points—7 to 5. Sheet, who: was playing a fine game, pulled up his leeway, and drew level on the 11th head with 13 all. Then again on the 18th head the scores were level—l 7 all. On the 19th and 20th heads Sheet got in two twos, and this left Ratcliffe four to get on the last head to tie. He lay two, and with his fourth bowl endeavored to take out Sheet’s nearest bowl, but- missed, and took out his own third bowl instead. He thus obtained two sliots, and suffered defeat by the same number of points.
