AVHATAUPOKO CLUB
At tlip AVhataupoko Club’s courts yesterday afternoon there were a number of officers from H.M.S. Pegasus present, and they enjoyed several games. Afternoon tea. was dispensed by the ladies of the club, and a very enjoyable afternoon resulted. The American tournament, is proceeding well, games being played almost every day. 1 •
GISBORNE TENNIS CLUB. The first round in connection with the men’s championship singles (Hawley Cup) was played yesterday. Some very good games took place, the one of most interest being that between Margolioutli" (who held the cup) and Gover, the latter winning by 3 sets to 2, after a very keen and well-played match. The following are the results: Barlow beat AV. L. Coleman, Sheppard heat Rex AVillock, Dodgshun beat Blackburn, Gover beat Margolioutli, Schieming beat Adair (by default). The second round is to be played by next Saturday.
