United Press Association— Copyright (Received February 7, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 7.
The “Daily Chronicle’s” New York correspondent reports that official returns show that 600 million sterling’s worth of food is in various trusts’ cold •stores, including 14 million carcases of cattle, 25 million sheep, 50 million pigs, and five million pounds’ sterling worth of fish for the Lenten season. The cost of food, therefore, is-not due to scarcity.
TROUBLE AMONG THE TRUSTS.' The “Chronicle” adds: “Despite the increase of railway receipts and other signs of .prosperity, American financial circles are thoroughly unsettled by the Government’s attitude towards the trusts. The value of the stock of 32 railway and 29 .industrial combinations has depreciated 207' millions sterling in six months, owing to the fear that the trusts, will be prosecuted. .
