COLONISING TROPICAL REGIONS

Professor Gregory, late of the Melbourne University, read a paper before the Geographical Society on the geographical conditions controlling Australia’s development. His conviction was that there was no region of tropical Australia which Europeans could not colonise. It would be possible, he said, to tell in 20 years whether colonisation of the tropical territory .by whites was practicable within 'reasonable time. If not, colored races might be admitted under stringent regulations confining them to this area.
