WANGANUI BAND CONTEST.
THE GISBORNE PERFORMERS. Mr. A. E. Lawrence, the conductor of the Gisborne City Band., has completed his selection of the members to represent the Band at the contest to be held in Wanganui next month. The following is "a list of those selected, and their respective instruments: Messrs F. O. Wilkinson, E flat cornet; J. Davis, solo B flat cornet; G. Douglas, E. R. Miller, and G. Grice, Ist B flat cornets; B. Williams and C. Hansen, Repiano cornets; If. W. Pettie and J. McConnell, 2nd cornets; F. Kelly and G. Wildish, 3rd cornets; T. Williams, solo tenor horn ; C. Williams and W. King, ,Ist and 2nd tenor horns; J. Cosgrove and W. Faulkner baritones; W. Harris and B. Sebire, euphoniums; R. Douglas, J. Richards and W. Dayman, trombones ; P. Morris and F. Albrecht, F flat bassos; C. Clayton and A. Lang, B flat basses; W. Robertson and T. Donovan, bass drum and side drum; F. Remvick, drum-major, and Bandsmen F. J. Spurdle and N. Hooper will also accompany the Band. It is anticipated that the new instruments for the Band, which are on board the New Zealand Shipping Co.’s s.s. The members of the Band leave Gisborne on Wednesday. March 9th, and will be absent for about a fortnight. Satisfactory arrangements have been made for their accommodation at the Federal Hotel during tlieir stay in Wanganui.
