BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB
A meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Bowling Club was -held last evening, the president (Mr. AY. Pe.ttie) being in the chair. A letter was received from the actin g-secretary of the Northern Bowling Association regarding the presentation to be given to Mr. J. H. Mentiplay, who has resigned the position of lion, secretary of the Association.—lt was resolved .to forward £1 Is as the club’s donation towards the presentation. The Turanganui Bawling Club w rote notifying that a flag had been presented to the club for competition betweien the B grade players of both clubs, and stating that it had appointed a subcommittee to confer with the Gisborne Club. —It was decided that Messrs Eure, T. A. Crawford, and Corson should confer with the Turanganui Club in connection with the matter.
The secretary of the Napier Bowling Club wrote informing the club that the member who ,had been appointed to see other clubs in their district in connection with the Burton trophy had reported that all the clubs were agreeable that the competition should be n. two-rink competition, and that Easter was thought the most suitable time. The first competition takes place in Gisborne. The president and secretary were appointed ta- draft a circular of invitation, to be forwarded to the clubs in this and the Napier district to compete for the trophy. In regard to the district matches, it was decided that the districts should be reduced to three, Ka-iti, AYhataupoko, and City, and the following subcommittees were appointed to pickteams to represent the same:—City: Messrs T. Adair and R. Robertson; AVhataupoko: Messrs T. A. Crawford and Hennessy; Ivaiti: Messrs Eure and Ponsford.
Accounts amounting to £25 were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
