The Dalai Lama and several Thibetan nobles have crossed the Indian frontier. Their flight is due to Chinese troops from Kbnma, who looted the monastries on reaching I.hassa.
[The Dalai Lama is the Sovereign Pontiff of Thibet, but delegates bis kingly duties to the De-Sri, or King.]
