Mr Justice Darling, in passing sentence, said in the case,of fraud against Violet Cliarlesworth and her mother, the evidence showed that Mrs Charlesworth invented the story of Violet’s fortune and inoculated Violet with the idea as a young girl. Violet had ingeniously developed it by fraud upon fraud. The mother’s defence was that she always believed her daughter’s st-ory.
