The Master of the'Rolls, in dismissing an appeal by Dr Brodie, “bloodless surgeon,” against a verdict for £IOOO damages, described him as a swindler, and ail ignorant, unscrupulous quack.
THE CHARLES,WORTH CASE. Mr Justice Darling, in passing sentence, said in the case,of fraud against Violet Cliarlesworth and her mother, the evidence showed that Mrs Charlesworth invented the story of Violet’s fortune and inoculated Violet with the idea as a young girl. Violet had ingeniously developed it by fraud upon fraud. The mother’s defence was that she always believed her daughter’s st-ory.
GERMAN CROWN PRINCE IN ENGLAND.
Prince Henry of Prussia received .a deputation from the Anglo-German Friendship Committee, including the Duke of Argyll, Lords Avebury, Lonsdale, and Courtney. Replying, Prince Henry reciprocated the sentiments of friendship, and' expressed the Kaiser’s gratification, at the committee’s aims.

The theatre at Truxillo, Peru, took fire during a cinematograph performance. The audience was panic-stric-ken, and fifty persons perished.
