A SYDNEY TRAGEDY.
A BARMAID SHOT DEAD

A barmaid, named Stark, at the Cafe Italien, Bond Street, was shot dead this afternoon. A man, calling himself Walter Lovett, entered the bar and fired shot after shot. The woman fell bleeding from several wounds. Lovett then turned the revolver on himself and inflicted a minor wound. Miss Stark died almost immediately, exclaiming “Look after my girl.” * Lovett told the proprietor on Saturday that Miss Stark was his wife. (Received March 16, 12.1 a.m.) Miss Stark had her left eye completely blown away, and received two terrible wounds in the bead, and two others in the body. The murderer stated that ho was a commercial traveller. He had been drinking heavily.
