NGATAPA SETTLEMENT.

EXAAIINATION OF APPLICANTS

Tlie members of the Land Board were kept busy yesterday, from 9 a.m. till 6 p.rn., examining the applicants for Beetle ns in the Ngatapa settlement. All the applicants were examined, and eight were rejected for various reasons, while five withdrew their applications. The Board were rigorous in putting out all who had land, even though they stated it was not sufficient, on account of the great number of landless applicants. The applicants included 17 from Hawke’s Bay, one from the South Island. two from Wellington, and 107 from Poverty Bay. Ten of the- applicants had previously put.in for Tongoia, Cklvoban'k, and Kuncti ballots. The ballot takes place at 3 o’clock tin's afternoon, in the Native Land Court room.
