COAL SUPPLIES STILL SHORT

Though the strike is over, i,t. is n-li-kely that full supplies of coal wt’.l be available for some weeks. During the strike the inter-State companies had over fifty steamers laid up. Thirty of these .are still idle. The owners are docking them and getting them in running order, which will -mean a further large outlay. The total losses of interstate companies and the Union Company over the strike are estimated at £200,000.
