[Per Press Association.l WELLINGTON, March 17. The Union Boating Club’® team from Wanganui, which Avon the interstate four-oared race at Hobart recently, was tendered a reception on arrival from Sydney to-day by the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, several speeches being delivered congratulating the team on their success. ARNST AND WHEILOH. CHRISTCHURCH, March 17. Arnst and Whelcli are out daily, but the broken weather lias interrupted operations to some extent. Shore' watchers say that this will not harm the men, particularly Whelcli, who may have been getting t-oo much ‘ffioat.” Arnst is down to ' within 31bs of his rowing weight. He has a magnificent drive, but his catch is weak. Both men are doing fast sprinting, and Whelcli is doing a great deal of solid work in addition. Arnst is taking matters more quietly. Arnst takes exercise daily on the hills. He had an accident with his boat a few days ago. Taking her out at very low tide, he hit a. bigstone and knocked l a couple of holes in the shell. Happily, repairs were easily made. Whelcli has a new boat built bvTowns, which suits him verv well.
