GREAT MINING STRIKE IN AMERICA PROBABLE.
United Press Association— Copyright (Received, March 29, 9.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 29. The United Mine Workers have unanimously rejected the Ohio, Indiana and West Pennsylvania mineowners’ terms. A great strike is feared.
AN AMERICAN RAILWAY TROUBLE.
The Union of trainmen and conductors on the Lakeshore ? Michigan and Southern' railroads is taking a ballot owing to the failure of negotiations to settle an outstanding dispute. Twenty thousand men are affected.
NEW SOUTH WALES TRADES UNION CONGRESS.
SYDNEY, March 29
Tlie New- South Wales Trades’ Union Congress has opened. A resolution was passed protesting against Judge Heydon placing the Free Laborers’ Union on the Wharf Laborers’ Wages Board.
NEWCASTLE ENGINE DRIVERS.
NEWCASTLE, March 29
The Enginedrivers’ Wages Board has fixed rates of pay ranging from 134 to I6sd ,per hour for drivers, and from 13->-d to 16d per hour for mechanics.
PROBABLE LOCK-OUT IN MELBOURNE TIMBER TRADE.
MELBOURNE, March 29
Owing to a dispute with ‘the .timber stackers there is a likelihood, if the trouble is not promptly adjusted, that the Timber Merchants’ Association will close their yards, causing .a lock-out, which will be disastrous to the building trade, and will throw thousands of men out of work.
