POVERTY BAY CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

The above Association met at the Alhambra rooms last night, but there was only a small attendance of delegates. Air E. AY. Harvey presided. Several new members were registered, and the groundsman’s report was accepted as satisfactory.

A letter of condolence was sent to the relatives of the late Air. L. E- Cotterill, who met an untimely end a few days

ago. The Association is endeavoring to arrange a match for to-morrow afternoon with the “Dollar Princess” Cricket C'lnb, and any members who can play on that day are requested to hand their names to Air. .]. Lang. A match is to be played against the AYaingake team on Saturday. February 4th, at the Domain. The matches for this week are as follows :—Thursday, Alhambra v. United, turf wicket; Saturday, Taruheru v. AVanderers, at Taruheru, United v. Y.M.C'.A., Domain; Juniors: Alhambra v. Y.M.O.A. (concrete), High School v. Wanderers (chip). PRESENTATION. Afr. E. AY. Harvey, on behalf of the Association, took the opportunity of presenting Air. P. E. Allen with an oil painting as an expression of the regard of the members of the Association, and with best wishes for a happy married life. ATr. Allen suitably replied, thanking those present for the gift. RANG'TTIKEI v. MANAWATU. . LPER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! ’PALMERSTON N., Jan. 23. The cricket match for the Hawke Cup was commenced between Afanawaitu and Rangitikei yesterday. In their first innings Rangitikei made 95, II ussev going in first and carrying his bat for 45. Alanawatu replied with 206 fOngley 74, Young 31, Rebelt-s 26, Greer IS, Bartlett 15 not out). Greer’s (Alanawatu) bowling average was remarkable, being 14’overs, 11 maidens, 10 runs, 4 wickets. Rangitikei have lost one wicket for 9 nins in their second inniiigs.
