GSBORNE CLUB. —Eure Stars.— A match, for the Eure Challenge Stars was played at the Gisborne green yesterday afternoon between the holders, Messrs J. F. Pettie, Seymour, Zachariah and McMillan (skip) and Messrs Bullock, Brown, R. Robertson and Kyme (skip). After a good game Ivy me’s rink w r on by 23 to 16. TURANGANUI CLUB. A start was made with the Bennett Cup competition of the Turanganui Club yesterday afternoon, when the first match was played. The result was:— —Bennett Cup.— M. G. Nasmith, jun., 16, beat Dan. Barry, 15.—This was an excellent game throughout, and was the closest played so far this season. Barry put up a single on the first head, wliich was replied to by Nasmith with a two and a pair! of singles; 4to 1. On the sth and 6tli heads tw r os yere scored by each alternately, but With a tw r o and a single on the 7th and Bth heads, Barry drew 7 level —6 all. Again on the 12th head the scores were level—9 all, and on th© 14t(b head, 10 all. Oar the 17th head Barry led by 14 to 11, but Nasmith, with a tw r o and a single evened matters on the 19th head. The 20th head went to Nasmith with a single, while Barry on the 21st "also made a single, making honors even—ls all. In the extra head Nasmith drew 7 the shot and won by the narrowest possible margin.
