POVERTY BAY CLUB

The Duthie double scull races were continued last evening,; when 0. Hanson (6seci) beat S. Doig (3sec.) by a length, after a very good go. O. Hall (12sec.) rowed a dead heat with J. Weston; (ssec.). .The race will be rowed off this evening. Last evening the go was really exciting, and both crews did their level best to get a lead at the post. Also this evening Hansen (6sec._) meets V, Somervell (Bsec.) in the semifinal, I 'and the final will be! rowed tomorrow evening. GISBORNE CLUB. The final for the Busoke Fours was decided last evening, when Gully (str), A. L. Winter, J. Winter,_ L. Bright, F. Brown (cox.) met McCpnville (str), Port, Kaye, Reddell, A. Fry (cox). An even start Was effected, and McConyille drew slightly ahead 1 . : At the hospital Gully had overtaken’ the leader, ■' and here assumed a lead of about a length, which he maintained till the finish, notwithstanding McCohville’s repeated efforts to draw level. In the Morse’s Double Sculls the semifinal was rowed. In the first race Donovan and Jones met Haultain and Evans, which was won by the latter crew after an. interesting race. 'Tlie next race was between Stevenson and Sweet and Winter and Scarfe. With, two seconds start, Winter took the lead, and won after an exciting finish bv a length. The final will be rowed to-morrow, when. Winter rows Haultain, and an interesting race should result. Entries are now open for Mr A. Cox’s Double Sculls (A grade) and Mr. C. Buscke’s Single Sculling Cup, which is open to all members. These entries close on 4th January next.
