MURIWAI SPORTS.
GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED
Entries for the Muriwai sports, to be held on New Year’s Day, closed with the secretary {Mr W. Page) last night, and for every event were of a .satisfactory nature. From the entries received, it is certain that keen competition will he witnessed in all the events.
The Muriwai sports have been growing in popular favor each year, and it is safe to predict that many hundreds; of townspeople .will take advantage ofthe gathering to picnic on the picturesque grounds of . the Club at Wairakaia' on New Year’s Day. , , Brakes will'leave the Masonic, comer for the sports ground at 9 a.m. on New •Year’s Day, and - intending passengers are advised ta book their seats at Redstone’s early in order to avoid disappointment. An added attraction at the sports will be the following attractive programme by the Gisborne Oity Band: — March. “Emperor” V(to be 'played at Masonic Corner prior to the brake leaving town); inarch, 1 ; waltz, ing town); march, “Victory”; waltz,; “Queen of the North” ; gavotte, “Evening Bells”; march, “Victoria”; fantasia, “Minstrel Melodies”; mazurka, “Rococo” ; intermezzo, “Broken Melody.” • march, “Our Girls”; overture, “In the Hour of Softened Splendour” ; waltz, “Loitia”; selection; ' “Walsh Beauties’ ’; waltz. “Radiant . Mom” ; overture, “Hearts and Flowers”; march, “The Territorials.”
