The weather was more than disappointing for the New Zealand championship athletic meeting, being cold and boisterous, with frequent drenching showers. It was a day of surprises ancl the crowning surprise was Southland! eventually annexing the Shield with 34 points, Canterbury 26, Auckland 20, Wellington 18 and Otago 14 ; The following are the -championship results: 100yds.
