TUESDAY, DECEMBER 31. For United States of America, Canada, Cook Islands, Tahiti, West Indies, Central America; also United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via San Francisco (due in London February 3), connecting with s.s. Aorangi at Wellington, per Talcapuna, 7.30 p.m. CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS.—2Sth and 26th December, 1912, and Ist January, 1913.
Postal Branch.— Wednesdays, the 25th December and Ist, January (Xmas Day and New Year’s Day), will be observed as close holidays. On Thursday, the 26th instant (Boxing Day) the Post Offices will be open in all branches ■ excepting the Money Order and Savings Bank, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Receivers and posting boxes will bo cleared on the evenings of Tuesdays, the 24th and 31st insts.
Mails usually despatched on Wednesday will be closed on Tuesday nights the 24th and 31st insts. at 7.30 p.m. On Boxing Day, the 26th inst., the usual despatch of mails up to 8 a.m. will te made. Receivers and posting boxes cleared accordingly. On the 26th inst. a complete delivery by letter carriers will be made. Telegraph Office.—On Wednesday (Xmas Day), Sunday hours will be observed, viz., 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 5 to 530 p.m. On Thursday (Boxing Day) and Wednesday (New Year’s Day) the office will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight.
