GREY ELECTION QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE. [BY TELEGSAPH—PARLIAMENTARY CO2KESPO-XDENTJ WELLINGTON.. July 30. Two questions arising out of theUk Grey election appeared on the Order Paper to-day. The first was put by Mr Seddon (Westland), who asked the Prime Minister what authority the organiser of the Reform Party (Mr Jones) had for saying, during the campaign, that the Government who were now spending large sums of money in opening a coal mine at Runanga and at "the Otira tunnel would not bo justified- in going on with these works if a Labor candidate were returned. The second question came from Mr Robertson (Otaki). who wished to know whether the Prime Minister agreed with the statement reported to have been made bv Mr Michel that in the event of a Labor member being returned it would serve the electors of the district right if the Government closed down the Otira tunnel. Mr Massey replied to Mr Seddon as follows: “I am not aware that the gentleman mentioned made the statement referred to. and for furt' er information I must refer the honorable member to Mr Jones.’’ A similar reply was made to Mr. Robertson’s question.
