NAPIER-WAIROA ROAD.
GRANT FOR METALLING PROMISE!!.
[BY TELEGRAPH—PARLIAMENTARY CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON. August 22. A deputation from Wairoa -consisting of Messrs Brown and >;re‘ai. and R. White, who were accompanied t y Mr Mason Chambers (representing the Napier Chamber of Commerce) waited upon the Minister for Public Works (Hon. W. Eraser) to-day in company with Mr Campbell. M.P.. in regard to the question of the metaling the remainmg portion of the Napier-Wairoa road. It was mentioned that the total cost of the work would prohablv be about £20,000.
Mr Fraser stated that he would place a sum on the Estimates for beginning the work, but he could, not expect the Government to vote each a large sum as that asked for. He added that he intended to visit W airoa during the summer.
