INFLUENZA SCOURGE
EPIDEMIC 1 SPREADING IN EUROPE. • PET WEEN 40,000 AND 50,000 CASES- IN BADEN. (United ’ Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, Jan. 12. Reports from Southern and Western Germany show that the influenza epidemic is spreading northwards from Switzerland. There are thousands of cases at 'Cologne and 3000 at Stuttgart. Baden is suffering severely, especially the larger towns, where it is estimated there are 40,000 to 50.000 cases. -—Times WEEKLY DEATH TOUT- TN ENGLAND INCREASES. ' TOTAL OF 172. LONDON. Jan. 12.' The week's death toll from influenza in England was T 72 persons. Including 97 in London, which is double the total of last week. Aged people and juveniles are must affected.—A. arid N.Z.C.A.
