London, April 16.

Mr O’Brien is suing Lord Salisbury for libel, for accusing him of advocating murder and pillage.

Colonel Saunderson, M.P., recently addressed a large meeting at Portadown, and in the course of his speech threatened armed resistance to any attempt to put the people of Ulster under Homa Rule Government. He said: As to a Home Rule Parliament, nothing under Heaven will make us recognise this Parliament or obey its laws so long as we have right arms to strike with. Tho very moment that there is a chance ot a Home Rule Parliament we should arm; we should drill, and in a fortnight we could put 50,000 men in the field under arms. I have the authority of leading men in the army that they never would allow the British soldiers to bo used against the Irish loyalists ; they will not trust Fenian police who were recruited from the people who butchered Inspector Martin ; and they will not allow themselves to be befooled.
