Miss Mabel Sylvester.
There promises to be a big reception for Miss Mabel Sylvester, the champion lady skater, who makes her first appearance at the City Rink to-morrow night. In our last issue we gave some of the criticisms of the Melbourne papers. Here are a few further extracts to show what a pleasure is in store for Gisborne people The Morning Times (Oakland, Cal.)—She went through a series of movements that were simply marvellous—her waltzing toe movements and clog dancing elicited rounds of applause. New York Herald.—The event of last night was the appearance of Mies Mabel Sylvester, “ The champion roller skater of America.” It is no exaggeration to say that Miss Sylvester’s performances wore something marvellous. . , , . So graceful, sylph-like, is Mies Sylvester's style that her skating Is expressive of her very rythme of movement, . , , . Her performance is marked by a charming ease and abandon which is truly refreshing when contrasted with the style of other professionals who have appeared here from time to time.

Brilliantly attired, she almost flew around the new summer rink, relaxing her speed only to show what curious things could ba done on wheels.
