SINGULAR SUICIDE.
CAPTAIN BALL BHOOTB HIMBELF. HE WOULD PREFERIIELL TO IDIOTB AND BANTERS. [most ouu own coaaasrosDXKT.] Namxr, last night. Jacob Ball, formerly captain of the schooner Frank Guy, committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver last night, or early this morning. He was a single and lived by himself in Roslyn Road. body was found at noon to-day on the floor of the kitchen, with a revolver in the right V hand and a bul'et wound on the right ’ temple. He had left a letter addressed to hie brother, stating his Intention to commit suicide, and remarking: “I think it far the best plan to ‘jack’ It up and avoid it all. I would have done it long ago, only ft requlries courage. I know your troub'c will be that I shall go to hall. If I believed io such nonsense 1 should prefer that place to the company of idiots, ranters, Salvation howlers, etc. ” The deceased was believed to have had a competency, though not wealthy,
