The Hawke’s Bay Herald has got mixed up in its reference to the Gisborne Racing Club. Our Napier contemporary states that the Gisborne Club will hold its first meeting in October or early in November, and that it will also have two days’ racing in January. For the information of those journals that have not grasped the position of things we may state that tho old established organisation (the Turf Club) holds its Spring meeting in October, the Gisborne Club opens at the Park on November 12 (which will probably be the public holiday in place of the 9th),. and then the Turf Club has its Usual Summer meeting some time in January. The following acceptances have been received for the Caulfield Cup: —Manton, Cranbrook, Cuirassier, Tradition. Biavo, Sedition, Bussley, Pakeha, Ben Bolt, Lonsdale, Somniel, Chicago, Oikleigh, Stanley, Wycombe, Whakawa’, Chaldean, Newmaster, Ths Lawyer, Benzon, Bowmoat, Bothwell, Ernani, Esmond, Chetwynd, Silverton, A'l Gold, Corunna, Leroy, Tourbillon, Knight of the Garter, Marie, The Charmer, Churchill, Boz, Don Giovan, The Rhymer, Sinecure, Teuton, Ellerdale, Moorebank, Menotti, Montalto, Scottish Chief, Gaeburner, TantalHon, Claude, Metenr, Lady Kintore.
