The Napier Infanticide.

VERDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER. (FROM OUB OWN CRUBR3PONDENT.) Napier, last night. The formal verdict in the Coroner’s inquest on the body of the infant child qf Mary Kyle was: " That the deceased child was feloniously killed by Mary Kyle on the 26th Aqgqst lagt." Captain Preece, the Coroner, explained that that was a verdict of manslaughter, as tha jury had not found that accused had noted from malice aforethought. The accused was committed for trial on the charge of manslaughter. The general opinion prevails that the name of the constable who seduced the accused should be disclosed, especially ns the cirmmatandes under whioh it took place is il'ghly censurable. It caine out in evidence hat Mrs Kyle iqtpuded disclosing the affair to her husband before the birth of the child, “Mt put it off from Sime to time until she was unexpectedly delivered of the child Her husband was present at the inquest, and appeared deeply concerned for his wife, who was in a very prostrated condition.
