Bed Tape Religion.
MORE QUIBBLING ABOUT FORMS. [FBOII CUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.J Dunkdin, last night. A complication has arisen in connection with the consecration of Archdeacon Julius to the Bishopric of Christchurch. A mandate from the Bishop of Nelson, as Primate, has been received by Bisbop Neville, asking the standing committee to consent to Archdeacon Julius' election, but Bishop Neville declines to acknowledge Bishop Suter as Primate, and as the mandate must come from and be returned to the Primate, Bishop Neville declines to submit the matter to the standing committee.
At a meeting of the Committee last night he explained his views as to the Primacy. Some of the members wished to deal with the question irrespective of the Primacy, but Bishop Neville considered it could not be done.
It was suggested that the question should be submitted to the Supreme Court, but the Committee simply passed on to the next business.
