Wellington Celebrations of the Jubilee.
A GRAND PROCESSION. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT ] Wellington, last night. Beautiful weather was experienced here to-day for the Jubilee celebration. The procession was a great success. It took three quarters of an hour passing a given point. There was about a mile taken up by school children, then old identities in carriages and on foot, followed by Trades and Friendly Societies. When the old settlers came into view the crowd, lining the streets and verandahs and windows en route began cheering and kept it up continuously. Some of the tableaux, especially of the Druids and Maypole dancers, were exceptionally well got up. The regatta started at 10.30, but all interest in the morning’s proceedings were centred in the procession.
