Hospital Trustees.
An ordinary meeting of the Gisborne Hospital Trustees was held last night. Present : Captain Tucker (Chairman), Coleman, Watson, Nolan, Hepburn, and Lucas. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs Harris and Stubbs. The monthly report showed remaining from last month, 10; admitted, 4 ; discharged, 7; deaths, 2; at present remaining, 5. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £B9 5s Id; which, with anticipated receipts during the fortnight, would cover tbe expenditure for the month. Accounts amounting to £l2l were passed for payment. Dr Pollen applied to resign, giving three months’ notice, and asking that Dr Barker, his locum teams, be allowed to fulfil the duties for the period, Dr Pollen guaranteeing that they would be efficiently attended to. It was resolved on the motion of Captain Tucker, seconded by Mr Nolan, to accept the resignation at the expiration of the term of three months. It was also further resolved that three months’ leave of absence be granted to Dr Pollen provided tho duties of Medical Officer are perf >rmed to the satisfaction of the Trustees during that period. Dr Pollen stated that Dr Barker would take up his residence in the premises now occupied by the former, so that the telephone would still be serviceable until new arrangements had been made. The Visiting Committee reported on the completion of the hot water supply scheme and sundry repairs and improvements. The Matrou acknowledged with thanks papers from the Club and from MrJ L. Humphreys, lemons from Mr C. P. Davies, ornaments from Mr Townley, and two esses of oranges from Captain Tucker. The Visiting Committee for the ensuing month a e Mm n Prinn and Coleman. Notices of motion for next meeting—Mr Lucas to rescind motion re night of meeting; Mr Coleman to move that the remuneration to the medical officer be reduced to £lOO, from October 1.
