Death of an old Gisborne Resident.

A very old Gisborne resident passed away yesterday, the wife of Mr Richard Byrne, shoemaker, breathing her last shortly before Ip.m. She had been ailing for some time, erysipelas having set in, and death was not unexpected, but the shock at tbe last could not help being severely felt by the relations. Mrs Byrne had been 27 years’ resident in Gisborne, and was tbe mother ot a family, the members of which have reached manhood or womanhood. She was aged 54. Mr Byrne was color-sergeant in the 58. h Foot, is now an Imperial pensioner, and bas been ih New Zealand for over 30 years. Mrs Byrne was tbe daughter of a sergeant in the same regiment,
